Paragliding Comp Commmittee

The Paragliding Competition Committee is a sub committee of the NZHGPA and has responsibility for coordinating the paragliding competitions throughout the year. They provide support to the organisers, revise the rules as required, do a bit of laising with the FAI regarding comps, oversee selection of the national team....
and generally discuss comp stuff.

The Paragliding Competition Committee is normally elected at the National Championships by the pilots there. It also can be appointed by the NZHGPA executive.

However this year, the election was not held at the champs, so we now have the situation of appointing a committee.

Copied from a recent mailout from Rick. If you are a user of Waikato
sites AT ALL please read the below and familiarise yoruself with site
rules. Losing any site due to the selfishness of any individual will be
a very sad day.

Waikato League comp

in

Don't forget the Waikato league is scheduled for this weekend 16, 17, 18 Feb. Weather is improving but final call on whether we proceed or go to reserve dates will be made on Thurs evening. Conditions in the Waikato have been great this season, pity the farmers, so make sure you are there. If you have PG2 and can do a few circles in the air then come and join in. It is the best way to improve your xc flying. You will need a GPS, reserve and UHF radio (sure you can borrow those). Peter Elliot has kindly stepped in as comp organiser since Wayne Roberts took a new job. We will try to get a GPS turnpoint file put on the web site this week so you can upload it yourselves and save some time on the first day. Watch this space. Cheers, Evan.

Welcome to our new-look website

in

As you can see the look and feel of the site has changed. Hopefully you will find it a bit more attractive and fun. The changes are far more than skin-deep however. The platform that runs the site has been changed to allow many new features, and you can expect to see some of these features appearing in the near future.
The most requested new feature is an online site guide, so look out for that over the next few weeks.

Auckland PG comp a huge success

in

The Auckland Paragliding comp was held over the weekend and was an
outstanding success. Three days, three valid tasks, with the third
being one of the most successful tasks in an Auckland PG comp in memory.

More details to follow, but a huge thanks to Darron for organising it.

Novice HG pilots want to fly at Muriwai

in

Hello All,
I have a group of Novice HG pilots (4 including myself). We fly at Kariotahi, but want to fly at Muriwai. We need to meet an experienced HG pilot who can show us the four sites at Muriwai (NW Face, Maori Bay, Jannie's and Southern Ramp) and lead us on some flights.
Who is the current site monitor?
If there are any other HG Novices (or others who want to fly with us), please let me know and I'll put you on our mailing list.
Cheers,
John Burton
