Next season PG comps at TC. Please help.

Thanks to some careful negotiation with DOC and TC ski field by Derek we have the opportunity to have a PGOpen in Wanaka that will include Treble Cone as the main site. The question we need some help on is when would you be most likely to attend. For the last few years Wanaka comps have been run in the first week of January with mixed success weather wise. Please answer selfishly i.e when would YOU like it to be, and why. If you don't want your answer to be public please email me gsifly(at)gmail.com

Thanks. Evan.

PG Open Rotorua

Looks like they got a good days flying at the Paeroas on Sunday, Task 1.

Evan, Rueben and Jeff in the top five, with Rhys Akers claiming sixth, a great effort on his 1/2.

A third of the competitors incurred penalties, with Anand unfortunately losing all of his hard earned points.

Lisa, flying a great 32.5 kms, failed to touch the first turnpoint and was credited with a distance of only 1.67 kms. A hard lesson.

Auckland comp next weekend

A reminder that we have a local comp scheduled for Nov 19 & 20. Keep an eye on the forecasts. I will post again on Tues if its looking likely and then make a final decision on Thurs night. Waypoint files and forms will be here for download in a couple of days. We will be using airscore so make sure you know how to save an igc file from your gps.

Regional Comp

What is news on regional comp this month  when is it?

PG OPen in Wanaka

Finally after alternating days of wind or rain we have a task in Wanaka. Launch was at Long Gully in a light SE. The mix of wind from one side of the ridge and thermals on the other made for a rough ride. The Auckland team took to the flats with varying degrees of success. Perhaps the proximity of Derek's house and a cold beer had too much influence. Sitting around the camp we did get a great view of Middy and Russ Read racing in to goal at Kat and Bryans place nearby. Middy sneaked in ahead by 10 secs by staying in Russell's blind spot just below.

XC league

In the past we have had a separate xc league table for North and South Is sites.
