Will split petrol/driving/ferry to HG Nationals in Wanaka

Hello All,

I am based in Auckland. I will participate in the HG Nationals in Wanaka from January 22nd to the 30th of 2011. As my car is a 2WD that can only carry 1 glider, I see more sense in teaming up with other Auckland pilots and splitting the cost of petrol, ferry and driving there and back.

If you have space for a paying passenger, e-mail me or phone on (09) 528 3362.

Cheers,

John Burton

Taupo Unhooked - Anyone going?

Don't know if anybody is driving down from Auckland for the Taupo Unhooked acro comp, but if there are people thinking of driving down; there are a couple of international acro pilots landing in Auckland around 5pm on Tuesday evening and they are looking for a ride to Taupo.

Please call me on 021 104 6208 if you are willing to give these guys a lift...

Bright Open: 5 - 12 Feb 2011

Hi All

The Bright Open is on again for another year and will run February 5th - 12th 2011.

The event will be Australian AAA and FAI Cat 2 sanctioned for those chasing maximum ladder points but there will also be a separately scored 'Serial task' - a shorter, more 'goal friendly' task for pilots wanting to improve their skills or those who want to compete in a slightly more relaxed fashion! The major goal of the week is to support and encourage intermediate pilots and those new to competition through the following:

Choice of Travel Insurance for Competition Flying- Canungra Cup

Thanks to Evan for pointing me to QBE and IHI bupa for travel insurance for canungra cup. I work in Insurance Industry and like to read the fine print which is what is referred to at  claimtime, I interacted with the respective insurance providers to specifically ensure Canugra Cup participants will be covered.

Interesting thing about QBE is they cover paragliding  trips abroad provided it is for recreational flying(free flying)however if the trip overseas is for taking part in competition like cannungra cup, there will be an exclusion under "Professions Sporting

If you are feeling the pangs of a lack of competition flying, here's the answer.

Simulated Competition Flying.

This is my first attempt at Simulated Task Setting.

Give it a go.

Warning, this can waste a lot of time. do attempt this at home.

Auckland Regional Competition (2) Results 2010

After hunting around for the last two weeks I have managed to find all the track logs and completed scoring the Auckland Regional Competition (2).

Two good tasks were flown out towards Rerewhakaiatu and Goudies. Conditions were good with plenty of thermals to be had, but challenging over the back. No-one with a GPS made goal but a few came close, and there were several personal bests logged.

The full results are recorded on Airscore. The final result table follows...
